Welcome to my world

My name is Reyna.

Mi nombre es Reyna. 

Proud   MEXICAN-AMERICAN

I am a writer of plays, movies, books, essays, and television. I currently holding two Master’s degrees across various genres in Creative Writing. Training and education in theatre spans from Millersville University, Wilkes University, LAMDA, and more. My writing is rooted in cultural folklore, family, and multilingualism.

My work has been published and produced across the United States and internationally in both English and Spanish. 

I am currently a member of the Dramatist Guild of America, an artistic associate for Teatro Paloma, co-host of Story Sisters podcast on Spotify, and a served as a reader for River And South literary magazine.

Apart from writing, I speak three languages, am a Mexican Folkloric Dancer, multi-instrumentalist, and nail tech.

When I am not writing, talking, dancing, making music, or doing nails, you can usually find me working out, or hanging out with my dog, Lucy.

My work is not political…but I can’t write if I ICE kills me.

  • Stillness Of July

    English. When a young woman finds her soul mate in an older man, she must look to the the women in her life to embrace life, love, and happiness before destiny intervenes.

  • A Real B.

    English. Five women travel to Tijuana, MX to celebrate the bachelorette party of their terminally ill best friend/sister. Inspired by A Real Bitch by Hally Platz.

  • Madrugada En Manhattan / Manhattan's Midnights

    Bilingual (En/Sp). When a Nuyorican musician is confronted with his wife of a previous life, he must find the stars in the night sky in the Lower East Side, NYC in order for there to be love on Earth.

    This is the first of the Legends Of The Lower East Side stage series.

  • Thirty-Won!

    English. She just turned 30 years old, and finally found the courage to leave an unhealthy relationship. With the help of her new friends, she has to find love and be truly happy.

  • O, Madre Querida!

    Español. La muerte de una suegra debería ser el final de una pesadilla. Pero para una mujer que apenas logra ocultar su felicidad frente a un esposo devastado, el verdadero problema comienza cuando regrese la pesadilla.


  • Un Amor Profundo / A Profound Love

    Bilingual (En/Sp). Haunted by the loss of her younger brother, an anthropology professor devoted to preserving the folklore of the Lower East Side, discovers that the myths she teaches are real. She must show everyone in the ‘‘hood’ the beauty of Loisaida before their history and roots are buried forever.

    This is the second of the Legends Of The Lower East Side stage series.
